This summer, the vintages of Bordeaux and its superb Atlantic beaches will get that little bit closer. Tickets went on sale this week for a new TGV route from Paris to Bordeaux, opening on 2 July, that will shave 75 minutes off the journey time, taking just over two hours from the City of Lights to the City of Wine. The journey from London to Bordeaux, with a change of trains in Paris, will take five hours and 50 minutes.
Bordeaux has had a dramatic makeover in the past two decades, the most impressive addition being the Cité du Vin, a mega-museum opened last summer and dedicated to the global story of wine. Housed in an €81m glass building, the museum offers a mind-boggling array of interactive displays, plus not-to-be-missed wine tastings on the top floor.Nungwi Village
